DeWitt Landscape Fabric

Weed Barrier Fabric

Both fabrics here are needle-punched weed barrier fabric in neutral black, both come in six widths from 3′ to 12′ on 250-foot rolls, and both let air, water and nutrients through while inhibiting weeds. The choice between them is weight and what it buys.

Pro 5 at 5 oz is the heavier fabric — double-sided polypropylene, striped every 12″ for plant spacing, and with extra stability on mounds and hills. It works above ground as a covering and in ground for erosion control.

20 Year at 4.1 oz is woven from precision-engineered polypropylene and sewn with heavy-duty fibers to provide a stated 20 year material lifespan. It is rot resistant, suits greenhouse use, and helps keep insects and wildlife off sensitive roots.

Weed Barrier Fabric Questions

Pro 5 or the 20 Year?

Pro 5 is heavier at 5 oz, double-sided, striped every 12″, and gives extra stability on mounds and hills. The 20 Year is 4.1 oz, engineered around a stated 20 year material lifespan, rot resistant, and suits greenhouse use.

How much do I need?

Every width is on a 250-foot roll: 750 sq ft for the 3′ up to 3,000 for the 12′. Allow extra for overlapping adjacent runs.

Do these go under mulch and rock?

Yes, that is the main use — controlling weeds under mulch, rock and soil, and around landscape decor. Both fabrics also help retain soil moisture underneath.

How are these different from ground cover fabric?

Weight and construction. These are the heavy needle-punched barriers for burial under mulch and stone. The ground covers are lighter woven fabrics with 12″ stripes for nursery and greenhouse work.
