Sunbelt Ground Cover

Dewitt Sunbelt is the general purpose choice in the woven range: heavy-duty woven black polypropylene at 3.2 oz that controls weeds and conserves water in greenhouse and outdoor applications alike.

The specially treated UV-resistant fabric lets water, air and nutrients pass through while blocking 99.7% of direct and indirect sunlight — and weeds need light. The fabric is also striped every 12 inches, so plant spacing and row layout come off the fabric rather than a tape measure.

Five roll sizes from 6′ to 15.5′ wide. Note that two of them cover the same 3,000 sq ft, so choose on width rather than area.

Sunbelt Ground Cover Questions

How much do I need?

Work out the area in square feet and match it to a roll — 1,800 up to 4,650 sq ft. Allow extra for overlapping adjacent runs.

Two rolls cover 3,000 sq ft — which one?

Choose on width. The 6′ x 500′ suits long narrow runs; the 10′ x 300′ suits wider beds. Matching roll width to bed width keeps seams and offcuts down.

How is this different from Ultraweb 3000?

Weight. Sunbelt is 3.2 oz; Ultraweb 3000 is 2.2 oz and more cost effective. Both are woven black polypropylene with 12″ stripes.

Is this the same as a non-woven geotextile?

No. Woven fabric like Sunbelt is for surface use — walked on, planted through, exposed. Non-woven geotextile is a filtration and separation product for burial under aggregate.
