How to Install Grass Pavers

Installing grass pavers — sometimes called lawn pavers or a geo grid driveway — is straightforward, and the base prep matters more than the grid itself. The steps below apply to both roll and rigid systems.

    Dig out the soft topsoil to the depth your load calls for — typically deeper for driveways and RV pads than for foot traffic.

    Build the base

    Add and compact an open-graded aggregate base in lifts. This layer carries the load; the paver just holds the surface fill in place.

    Lay the grid

    Unroll or snap the pavers together over the base. Cut to fit around edges and curves; anchor as the product directs.

    Fill & finish

    Fill cells with topsoil and seed or sod for grass, or angular gravel for a stone finish. Water grass in and keep off until it establishes.
