Ground Cover Fabric

Ground cover fabric is a woven polypropylene geotextile with excellent puncture and tear resistant strength, carrying planting stripes for easy plant alignment so spacing comes off the fabric rather than a tape measure.

It works by blocking sunlight, so weed seeds cannot germinate properly — and it carries the highest UV resistance in the woven range, which is what lets it keep doing that in full sun rather than going brittle in it.

Four widths on 300-foot rolls. The 12′ is the most popular for landscaping: it gives the least overlap that one or two people can still handle comfortably.

Which width should I choose?

Match it to the bed. The 12′ roll is the most popular because it gives the least overlap that one or two people can still handle. Wider rolls can be cut down on site.

How much do I need?

Every roll is 300 feet long: 1,800 sq ft at 6′, 3,000 at 10′, 3,600 at 12′ and 4,500 at 15′.

What are the stripes for?

Plant alignment. They let you set spacing and keep rows straight off the fabric itself instead of measuring.

Is this the same as a weed barrier?

Related but different. This is a woven nursery-grade cover with planting stripes. For mulched landscape beds a weed barrier is the more direct tool.
