Steel U-Pins For Grass And Ground Reinforcement Mesh

Steel U-Pins secure grass and ground reinforcement meshes — TurfProtecta, GrassProtecta and BodMat — along with geotextiles and weed control fabric or ground cover, to the ground. Each bag contains 50 pins, and they are driven in flush with a club hammer.

They are the fixing the mesh depends on. Until the grass has grown up through the apertures and knitted with the mesh strands, the pins are the only thing holding the material against wind, foot traffic and tires — so the pin count matters as much as the mesh grade.

Pin Quantities Per Roll

  • A single roll: a minimum of four bags — 200 pins.
  • Two or more rolls: a minimum of three bags (150 pins) per roll, plus one extra bag more than the total roll quantity ordered.

Example: four mesh rolls calls for twelve bags of pins for the rolls, plus five more — seventeen bags in total.

Can I order U-Pins on their own?
No — Typar Steel U-Pins must be ordered with an accompanying Typar grass protection product and cannot ship alone. Add your GrassProtecta mesh to the same order and the pins ship with it.
How many pins do I need?
Pins come 50 to a bag. A single roll needs a minimum of four bags (200 pins) for effective pinning. For two or more rolls, allow a minimum of three bags (150 pins) per roll, plus one extra bag more than the total roll quantity ordered.
What size are the pins?
Each pin measures 6.7″ long by 2.75″ wide, in 0.23″ diameter steel.
What can I use them on besides grass mesh?
They secure grass and ground reinforcement meshes including TurfProtecta, GrassProtecta and BodMat, and also work for geotextiles and weed control fabric or ground cover.
How are they installed?
Drive them in flush with a club hammer through the mesh or fabric into the ground below. Pin the overlaps where rolls meet as well as across the field of the material.
