01 Rapid-Set Polyurethane

The Fastest-Curing Professional Retaining Wall Adhesive

SRW Rapid-Set Polyurethane is the fastest-curing retaining wall adhesive in the family — specially formulated for landscape and construction projects, with a 60–90 minute firm set, a 24–48 hour full cure, and a fast, permanent bond to almost any material, even non-porous substrates.

It works on dry or damp surfaces, handles high temperatures well enough for firepits and outdoor kitchens, is rated for interior and exterior applications, and is VOC-compliant in all 50 states and Canada. Each carton contains twelve tubes, in your choice of 10 oz or 28 oz.

6090minute firm set — full cure in 24–48 hours

The fastest-curing adhesive in the line: the job is handling loads the same day instead of waiting most of a week for a solvent formula to reach full cure.

02 Why it works

Fast Set, And It Bonds Almost Anything

Polyurethane chemistry gives Rapid-Set two advantages: speed, and reach. It forms a permanent bond on non-porous substrates that defeat conventional landscape adhesives — metals, foam, clay — alongside the usual block, pavers, concrete and natural stone. It is suitable for dry or damp surfaces, and its high-temperature tolerance makes it the pick for firepit kits and outdoor kitchens.

05 Where it goes

What It Bonds

Beyond wall caps and copings, the polyurethane formula reaches materials conventional landscape adhesives struggle with — including non-porous substrates.

Retaining walls Wall caps & copings Pavers Brick Pool copings Firepits & outdoor kitchens Foam Metals Wood Natural stone Concrete Clay
  • Dry or damp surfaces — no waiting on a bone-dry substrate.
  • High-temperature tolerance for firepit kits and outdoor kitchens.
  • Interior and exterior applications.
Not for every material: do not use on plastic, rubber or fiberglass, in continuous submersion or below the waterline, or in direct contact with flames or fire brick.

06 Application

Four Steps To A Fast, Permanent Bond

  1. Clean the surface. Surfaces must be clean and free from oil, grease, dust, excessive water or ice. On metal, remove scale and rust to a bright surface; on masonry, expose a sound surface free of laitance; on wood, scrape paint back to bare wood.
  2. Load the cartridge gun. Cut the tip on a slant for a 1/4" to 3/8" bead, puncture the inner seal, and place the tube in the gun.
  3. Apply a continuous bead. Run the adhesive onto one of the two surfaces.
  4. Press and twist. Press the surfaces together firmly with a slight twisting motion. Typical firm set is 60–90 minutes.

User Tips

  • Working temperatures: 45°F – 90°F for ease of extrusion. Above 90°F, use additional supports for 24 hours; below 60°F the product may be difficult to extrude.
  • Mist non-porous materials. A light mist of water during application speeds curing on foam, metal and similar substrates.
  • Wear gloves. Once the material has cured, it cannot be removed.
  • Check adhesion on unusual substrates. Rapid-Set bonds well to most materials, but verify the cured bond on any substrate you have not used it on before.
  • Cleanup: uncured adhesive cleans up with mineral spirits. Dispose of contents and containers at a hazardous or special waste collection point.
  • Storage: cool, dry, upright, out of direct sunlight, where it will not freeze. 12-month shelf life.

Why Buy Retaining Wall Adhesive From Landscape Discount

Genuine SRW professional-grade adhesive

The same cartons contractors buy through hardscape suppliers — full 12-tube cartons of the real product, not repackaged or off-brand caulk.

The adhesive is the cheap part

Caps, copings and seat walls are expensive to reset when a bond fails. A professional-grade adhesive costs a fraction of doing the work twice — do it once, do it right.

Volume pricing on big jobs

Orders totaling over $10,000 qualify for volume discounts — call or submit a quote request for written volume pricing.

12 Common questions

Retaining Wall Adhesive FAQs

How fast does it set?
Typical firm set is 60–90 minutes, with a 15-minute working time and full cure in 24–48 hours. Cure time varies with temperature, humidity and the porosity of the materials joined.
How much does one tube cover?
With a 1/4" bead, a 10 oz tube runs 32 feet and a 28 oz tube runs 89 feet. With a 3/8" bead, a 10 oz tube covers 14 feet and a 28 oz tube covers 35 feet.
Can I use it on metal, wood or other surfaces?
Yes — it bonds wood, metal, natural stone and clay, plus the usual block, pavers and concrete. On steel, make sure there are no oils on the surface, and scratch steel or aluminum for a faster setup. It is not for use on plastic, rubber or fiberglass.
Is it suitable for firepits?
Yes — the high-temperature formula is suitable for firepit kits and outdoor kitchens. It is not, however, intended for direct contact with flames or fire brick.
Solvent-based or polyurethane — which should I pick?
Pick Rapid-Set Polyurethane when speed matters or when bonding non-porous materials. Pick the Superior Strength Solvent-Based formula for cold-weather work — it extrudes down to 10°F and bonds on wet or frozen surfaces, where polyurethane becomes hard to extrude below 60°F.
Can I remove it after it cures?
No — once cured, the bond is permanent and the material cannot be removed. Wear gloves during application, and clean any uncured adhesive with mineral spirits before it sets.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is free on every order at Landscape Discount — adhesive cartons ship free with no minimum order.
