A Gravel Surface That Stops Migrating

EZ Roll Gravel Pavers reduce erosion and keep a gravel road or parking lot looking and working the way it did the day it was laid. A web of hexagonal cells with shared walls holds the aggregate in place, and a thermally welded geotextile fabric across the whole underside stops gravel migrating downward and lifting the paver — while staying porous so stormwater still filters through.

The result is a drivable, permeable gravel surface that carries H-20 and H-25 loads, needs no irrigation, and presents an attractive alternative to concrete or asphalt. It also works for erosion control on slopes and in swales, and can be plowed to clear snow.

05 The defining feature

Bonded Geotextile Fabric

What separates the gravel paver from the grass version is a continuous piece of geotextile fabric thermally welded across the entire open bottom of the roll. It does two jobs at once, and both matter on a gravel surface.

  • Holds the fill. The fabric stops gravel migrating down into the subgrade, which is what causes cells to empty and the paver to lift.
  • Stays porous. It filters stormwater runoff through to the soil below rather than shedding it, so the surface stays permeable.
  • Resists puncture. Thermally welded rather than glued, so it survives the aggregate being dumped and raked across it.

06 Get the fill right

Which Gravel To Use

The fill matters as much as the paver. Use clean, washed gravel, uniform in size, between 3/16" and 3/8". Angular stone is what you want — it keys together and stays put. Round stone migrates under traffic and works its way out of the cells.

Why uniform and washed matters. Fines and mixed sizes pack down and seal the surface, which defeats the permeability the system is built for. Washed, single-size angular aggregate keeps the voids open.

07 Before you order

Installation

  1. Prepare the base. Grade and compact per the load class. Best results come where the subsoil infiltrates water; on poor-draining soil plan an underdrain.
  2. Roll out the pavers. Panels arrive preassembled in rolls, so large areas go down fast with the fabric side down.
  3. Snap-lock the seams. End-to-end and side-to-side clips join the rolls into a continuous mat.
  4. Pin it down. Stakes are included with each roll — secure the mat before filling.
  5. Fill the cells. Spread clean, washed 3/16"–3/8" angular gravel and screed level with the top of the cells.
Load capacity depends on the full section, not just the paver. The roll is rated to H-20 and H-25, but for fire lanes and emergency access follow the CAD detail that matches your load class and confirm base depth with your local authority.

What gravel should I use to fill it?
Clean, washed gravel that is uniform in size and between 3/16" and 3/8". Angular stone works best because it keys together and stays in place; round stone migrates under traffic.
